Alicia Mclauchlan TQ 6n 2016/17 update

SDU have recently been in contact with #6n TQ driver Alicia Mclauchlan to get an update for the 2016/2017 race season. Here is what she had to say…

Alicia Mclauchlan:

Hello everybody,

Over the off season we have put lot a of time into our car with two basic goals, diet and speed. With the assistance of two of our key sponsors TJ Hoult engineering and Brads Smash Repairs, we believe we have been able to achieve this. Tony from TJ Hoult engineering has re-engineered many parts to give us greater performance, reliability and weight saving in combination with Brad from Brads Smash Repairs introducing carbon fiber to our setup again saving us a few more pounds.

After three successful practice days, we now look forward to the start of the season this weekend with Nelson’s opening night, where we compete for the Trackman’s trophy. This event is a memorial to Murray Teece (former trackman) who sadly pasted away just over a year ago. Murray has been a very dear friend for many many years so this is always a special event.
This season we will also be running a yellow ribbon in memory of another very dear friend we recently lost. Glenn Campbell was a great mentor, friend and competitor that we loved having around, and although we aren’t actual family we were very proud to call him our granddad.
As all can appreciate, racing is very expensive and sponsors play a huge part, we are very grateful to have our full team of sponsors back for this season.
Our plans for this season include traveling to Napier for the NZ TQ title, South Island champs at home, along with many trips to Ruapuna. We would also like to get the monkey off our back at Nelsons Easter meeting. Following on from the great experience Kevin Freeman gave us last year to run the Sprintcar at Woodglen. Kevin has again shown faith in me and made his spare car available for us to compete in the war of the wings round at Nelson, and then later on the NZ GP in Nelson. Very excited and hugely grateful to Kevin for this opportunity.
Jacks Tyres, a proud local business and huge supporters of speedway racing in the top of the south. Port Motueka Marine Services, locally, privately owned business, for all your boat repairs and maintenance needs. Every boats needs are different, so for more information about how they maybe able to enhance your boating experiences, please check them out on Facebook. TJ Hoult Engineering, when it comes to engineering it’s the finishing that counts and you only need to ask around and you will hear Tony’s name mentioned as the man to see if you are looking for the highest achieved workmanship. Brads Smash Repairs, with brads vast history in motor racing and commitment to produce the best results, they have been a major asset to us in keeping our car looking clean, fresh and more recently lean.
If you ever have the chance to support any of our team sponsors, please do.
Personally I would like thank each of you for your continued support and faith, I look forward to catching up over the next few weeks,
cheers Alicia Mclauchlan #6n.
